Ramyata & Sean, a jet-setting couple based out of New York City, celebrate their weekend long wedding festivities in the charming seaside town of Ogunquit, Maine. The couple had two wedding ceremonies, a morning Hindu ceremony on a nature reserve and an evening Catholic ceremony by the sea. Our studio created a custom wedding invitation suite that drew inspiration from the bride’s Indian heritage and paired it with elegant nautical designs reflective of southern Maine, the groom’s summer hometown.
Our studio created two custom crests for the Hindu ceremony invitation and the evening Catholic ceremony invitation. We referenced the mood boards created by Sarah Goodwin of Daisies and Pearls to incorporate Marigold (a symbolic celebratory flower in the Indian culture), fuchsia, natural greens, navy and white. We created a bouquet of watercolor flowers in those colors as the foundation of the crest and designed their initials in a modern style. The crest for the Hindu ceremony incorporated the Ganesh (an elephant like Hindu God representing Wisdom and Intellect) and an anchor for the evening Catholic ceremony by the sea.
In order for guests to experience the magic of summer in Maine, we created a custom map to highlight the best of the area. Fun fact: Sean spent his summers in high school as a waiter at Barnacle Billy’s.
The Friday night welcome party and Saturday morning Hindu ceremony was held at Laudholm Farm, a historic farm turned nature reserve. The couple created a relaxed atmosphere to dine al-fresco for the Friday welcome dinner hosted by the groom’s family. The venue was then transformed into a magical oasis for the the Hindu Ceremony on Saturday morning.
Ramyata wanted to incorporate the elements significant to her Indian heritage for their Hindu ceremony, but instead of the traditional bold and colorful designs, she drew inspiration from the natural beauty of Laudholm Farm. Minka Flowers and Sarah Goodwin created a refreshing twist for the outdoor ceremony, balancing the richly colored textiles with muted colors and natural wild flowers indigenous to the area.
Ramyata’s Sari was sewn from fabrics from her grandmother’s Sari.
Coastal Maine is unique in its drama of how the Atlantic Ocean crashes onto the cliffs. Ramyata and Sean wanted to capture this mood by hosting their black tie Catholic ceremony and reception at the historic Cliff House, located on the precipice of a cliff overlooking the sea. They wanted to carry over the softness and elegance from their Hindu ceremony but adapt it to a seaside ceremony and reception.
There are many ways a couple can tell their story through design, and a custom wedding stationery suite can unfold that story for your guests, inviting them into the story every step of the way.
