real weddings

washington, d.c.

Meet Jonathan and Madison, a fun loving Washington, D.C. couple who also happens to be my neighbors. They were one of my first clients who bravely let me design their entire wedding invitation suite. Funny story. I ran Madison down at the dog run and gave her my business card. Luckily, they didn't think I was totally crazy and trusted me to illustrate and design their invitations!

This stunning wedding was a celebration no one could forget, and we were lucky to be able to illustrate it in their invitation design. The couple balanced the elegance of their ceremony and reception with a lively party that carried into the night. The map detailed the weekend itinerary that began with their welcome party in Dupont Circle and ended with a post reception bash at their favorite local bar in Woodley Park.

The custom crest created for Jonathan and Madison were carried throughout their wedding, including their menus and programs on their wedding day.

We illustrated the scene of Jonathan and Madison's first date at a Turkish restaurant in Dupont for their rehearsal dinner invitation. They brought their family and friends to the place where their love story began to kick off their wedding weekend.

Watercolor illustrations and handwritten watercolor script were used throughout the wedding invitation suite, which lends itself perfectly to the natural aesthetics of cherry blossoms.

Our studio has always wanted to create a crest like this as we love the designs and heritage of medieval heraldry, and we finally found the clients who let us run with it! This bride and groom are big NFL fans, so we were able to utilize the mascots - Texas Toro for the bride and Carolina Panther for the groom and design a modern crest for their invitations.
